We’re so excited, we wet our plants! Nothing gets this company of gardening gals more excited than local plant sales! We love those early, 8am mornings, when the day is just starting to warm up and the dew is clinging to the grass, standing in line awaiting the opening of much anticipated local sales, coffee and cash in hand. Hosted by non-profits, garden clubs, libraries and more, we find these events have a great selection of native plants, treasured perennials and sometimes unusual varieties for a fraction of the price of a typical garden center… These places are gold mines!
They’re also a great way to meet community members who love to get dirty in the garden, like us! Our favorite part of spring plant sales is making an annual celebration of it. Each year, we get together with our mom for a Girl’s Weekend and hit up the plant sales in much the same way as a gaggle of grannies with their rolls of quarters on the way to Oxford Casino. We LOVE IT!
Don’t forget, Mother’s Day is May 14th, so if you want to try something new, consider treating mom to a shopping spree for plants!
