When Catherine sent me a link to check out some waterfalls in the mountains, I jumped on it! How could you not get excited about being outdoors and seeing beautiful waterfalls and nature in general. The New Hampshire State Parks website had this awesome list of 8 waterfalls you could see in one day and we hit up five of them!
When we set out on the day I couldn’t contain my excitement. I put Arethusa Falls into my GPS and headed out. But we got sent to the wrong place. So instead we started with Ripley Falls. This was a great little hike, not too hard, not too easy. But the sights were totally worth it. My hiking buddy said to just wait until Arethusa though. Ripley was a great start to the day, but we had more adventures waiting for us!
On our way to Arethusa from Ripley Falls, we stopped on the side of the road to check out Silver Cascade. This was a great sight and super easy to get to. There is a little parking lot across the street where you can stop. This waterfall was super tall and cascaded beautifully down.
Next, we found the actual Arethusa Falls trail and headed up! This hike was little more difficult with the snow and ice still on the ground. It takes about an hour, but being a little out of shape and with the snow, it took us a little long. But when we saw the falls it made it all worth it. We were lucky enough to check it out the day after some rainfall so we were able to get a great flow. My hiking partner even went under the falls to put his head under the water. A bit chilly but worth it to cool down a bit!
On the way down, we took the Bemis Brook Trail. This was super steep at some points so something to keep in mind when you’re deciding to go up or down that trail. On this trail there were two bonus waterfalls. Bemis Falls was a great view and you can get right near the waterfall to get a great picture. We also saw Coliseum Falls along the Bemis Brook Trail.
After a day of hiking we were ready for a beer and some yummy food. We hit up Moat Mountain Brewing Company. We had the Scottie’s IPA and Miss V’s Blueberry and couldn’t recommend either more! Along with yummy sandwiches it was a great way to wrap up an amazing day. If you’re looking for something fun to do this spring, you’ll definitely want to check out this list! Check out our reel on our social media pages to check out the waterfalls in action. Be sure to bring your water bottle, hiking boots and good vibes! We can’t wait to continue to explore and bring you along for the ride. Where should we go next?
