What is your business, and what do you do?
My name is Anne Nguyen and I’m the owner of Aqua Nails. We offer manicure and pedicure services. From fancy artwork to acrylics, we can do just about anything that the customer wants with their nails.
Tell us about the “AHA! Moment!” that led you to start your business:
I’ve been working as a nail technician for 14 years. I received my cosmetology license in California and have been working in the industry ever since. For the past 10 years I’ve worked at a nail salon here in York Maine. Over the years though, my customers have suggested that I open up my own place and that they would follow and support me. In October of 2022, I welcomed customers to my own place.
What do you love about your job?
I love my customers and the reactions they have after getting their nails done. Seeing how pretty and nice they look gives me lots of joy and accomplishment. There are, of course, the conversations we have too. I’ve become friendly with everyone and it’s great. Overall, making customers happy about their nails makes me happy.
What makes you different from others in your industry?
Currently I work alone and by appointment only in my clean and serene facility. This enables me to schedule in customers and really spend the time doing great work. Customers have told me that in other places, they experience a fast turn around to make more money like a production line. For me, doing quality work is important as I want to make customers happy. I want them to have a joyous experience.

We hope you’ll pop by and get your nails done with Anne! We recently enjoyed a mani/pedi session with her, including a hot stone leg massage, moisturizing, nail trim, buff and polish. She has a selection of products to choose from, like regular nail polish, acrylics, gel and dip. And our favorite part? The relaxing environment is even more so with their amazing salt-water fish tank! You can get your nails done and watch the fish dart around the tank! It’s a great experience, and like she mentioned, it’s never rushed. There are options for kids, too, so don’t hesitate to book a mommy-and-me date for your favorite people!
