This month we’re excited to spice up our business feature with something a bit more creative! Anthony is a talented local artist who specializes in sculpting everything from magical door- knockers to larger-than-life statues. Check out this feature to learn more about him!
What is your business, and what do you do?
I’m Anthony Alemany and I’m a sculptor here in the Seacoast area. I primarily work with figures in clay and cast in bronze for public and private commissions. I also do works in charcoal.
Tell us about the “AHA! Moment!” that led you to start your business.
For years, I didn’t believe I could make it as a full-time artist, so I went into business management. But a company restructure left me searching for new opportunities. After connecting with the Green Foundry and Sanctuary Arts, I was encouraged to pursue my dreams of becoming a sculptor. I took the plunge head first and now I’m approaching my 5 th year and business is booming!
What do you love about your job?
I love what I do! I’m passionate about sculpting. For me, it’s like breathing. A wolf is at home in the woods; when I sculpt, I’m home. For me the best part is when I get to share my work and to see how it impacts people. I believe art imitates life and teaches us to dream big, to look within, to look without, and to reach beyond what w
e thought possible.
What makes you different from others in your industry?
Like other artists, I have my own style. I’m talented, I dream big, and I have oceans of ideas. But I think what makes me different is that I have intentionally aligned my talent with rigorous traditional and anatomical training. I’m told I have a rare ability to capture a subject’s likeness and that I’m also able to excel at both the creative and engineering aspects of making art. That,
in combination with my experience in business management, I’m able to find practical ideas that meet a budget.
What’s your Service Area?
I live here in South Berwick and service southern Maine and New Hampshire, but that does not limit me. As an artist, I work with clients all across the country, and customers all over the world. If you’re near or far, feel free to reach out and I believe we can find a way to bring your dream to life.
