With summer arriving just in time, and Father’s Day literally right around the corner, we definitely want you to be prepared to give some of the best gifts to the best dudes in your life. We don’t want you getting caught not having something cool and unique for dad – so we’ve got some great staff picks below!
It’s not just Mom’s we get to spoil – although, we do have to admit to being a little salty about Dad getting the better end of the deal with a later date and much better weather to celebrate! Mom gets spring, Dad gets summer… it all works out though!
In general, you just can’t go wrong. We literally can’t think of any guy that doesn’t like to “man the grill”, and whether he’s a meat eater or not.. there’s always something to throw on there. Be it meat, veggies, fish, or otherwise… is there an otherwise?
You can grab essentials pretty easily these days thanks to gift sets from big box stores, or get it fast from favorites like Amazon. Or, you can opt to go the personalized route and see what you can find on Etsy!
Tools come in an assortment of styles, from metal and wood to plastic (which we don’t personally recommend due to the fact that a) if you’re not careful, they can melt from the high temperatures and b) sustainability! They’re just not good for the environment!)
We’ve come a long way from stamped out heavy metal of days past – and you can find well balanced, lightweight and stylish tools that’ll fit in your drawers when you’re done.
Now let’s get to the meat of it – get it? You’ll need some food to throw down on that glorious steel beauty, and let’s face it. Dad’s gonna be hungry. You can chip in as a family and get him a subscription to *Butcher Box or a similar meat delivery service.
*We are not sponsored by Butcher Box nor are we being compensated for mentioning them in this post. We just really like their service.
Last but not least – don’t forget to grab a grill cover – they’re priceless when it comes to protecting it from the elements when not in use, especially if you don’t have it under a covered deck/patio area. Out of all these things – we may venture to guess Dad might get excited about this the most!
catherine & tiffany’s picks:
When it comes to the Dad-That-Has-Everything, finding a great gift can be hard. But don’t worry…
Catherine’s found that certain things, especially nostalgic ones, are the winners. Finding Dremel accessories & attachments always puts a smile on Dad’s. That is, of course, until he decides to go on a tangent of how the design of the attachment could be improved… Or you can go with an old fashioned shaving kit complete with Williams Mug Shaving Soap, a soft boar bristle shaving brush, and a really good razor for a close shave is a Slam Dunk gift every time.
However, if like some of us, Dad hasn’t visited the barber in a while and is looking a bit post-apocalyptic… You may just consider getting him a Gift Card/Certificate to his favorite digs. One of our personal favorites is Narin Frichittavong in Somersworth NH, especially for a hair & beard clean up to get him looking sharp and handsome once more. Plus with online booking, it’s easy to make an appointment in just a few clicks. Supporting small business & keeping it local – heck yes! Not only are there various options to choose from – but we highly doubt a hot towel shave & hair cut will be turned down by Dad or Grandpa.
What better way to show off that new ‘do than to throw a backyard BBQ (especially with that NEW GRILL!) or Surf & Turf Cookout with family and friends?! Load up on the veggies, lobster & steaks because we’ve fired up the new grill… And the drinks, we’ll leave that up to Tiffany! Just but be sure to set up a zen little quiet place for the Dadster to hunker down and retreat for some quiet time. A hammock is a perfect outdoor space for him to stretch out upon, with or without kids, dogs, etc. And they even have cool ones now with mosquito netting and all that jazz… so fancy!
Then again, maybe you have a dad who likes touring breweries, tasting different brews (or enjoying the same ones) and looks forward to a day of an ice filled cooler with cold drinks, hot food, and great company.
We always want Dad to be stylish, so here’s a way to incorporate both spouse/mom and kids into the mix… Enter hilarious & personalized shirts which can be found on Etsy. There’s so many to choose from, we seriously want them all. And as far as keeping comfy underneath it all, well… just have Mom get Dad this boxer subscription… Looks like a joke, but wears like a dream. That’s what we hear anyways.
What’s left? Fun in the sun! Don’t forget, our Mom’s are the only ones who love photos of places we’ve visited over the year! Dad’s gonna want some of those snaps too, so put together a collage, or a little flip-book for him! Even better – get a digital photoframe he can keep on his desk at work so he can have your memories at work during the day. Guaranteed – he’ll appreciate it a LOT. Plus, as you make more memories, you can swap or add more pictures to the lineup!
Which leads us to… Bucket hats. They’re the new rage this year. Why? Because sun protection is super-important, and skin cancer on your scalp is not fun. More and more people are finally taking their SPF duties seriously, and one of the great ways guys can do it is wearing these amazingly versatile and frankly very stylish hats. They’re big. They’re floppy. They’re meant to be. You dunk ’em in water, they’ll keep you cool all afternoon. Plus they protect your dome from those harmful UVA & UVB rays – especially if you set Dad out to sea on a day-long fishing trip. Trust us, he’ll love it.
Similar to grilling, we can’t personally think of any male we’ve ever come across that wouldn’t throw down and say “HECK YEAH!” to a day on a boat, on the Atlantic, trying to catch big fish. Whether it’s striped bass, haddock, mackerel, or even just a whale watching expedition – we’re pretty certain Dad would be really excited to get a “Man Day” out on the water. We’re partial to recommend Al Gauron out of Hampton, NH. With amazing reviews, and great trips out on the Atlantic, we’ve heard nothing but rave reviews from friends who have set sail with him.
