Tools for New Homeowners
With a beautiful new home, comes projects and upgrades. To get these projects off the ground, you need the tools to do a great job. But where do you start? What are the best tools to have ready for these projects?
Your Tool Box
Hammer – Get those nails in the wall easily with a trusty hammer from your toolbox.
Tape Measure – Don’t forget, it’s “measure twice, cut once”. We also love the digital tape measure, which is a bit more expensive, but it’s more precise and is great for high ceilings and quick measurements on the go!
Stud Finder – When you’re hanging things on your wall, you’ll want to make sure you know where your studs are.
Level – Make sure your lines are straight with a bubble level. Never guess a straight line again.
Screwdriver Set – To tighten or loosen those screws, a screwdriver set comes in handy for a number of projects around the house.
Cordless Drill – You can use it for everything from drilling holes and putting together some of that new furniture, and plenty of other tasks in between.
Plier Set – You can grab and twist items in your pliers.
Ladder and/or Step Ladder – Get the boost you need with a little more height with a ladder/step ladder.
Flash Light – Not only good for projects around the house, but also in case of a storm.
Extension Cord – Chances are you’ll need at least one extension cord for a project in your home at some point.
Plunger – Not only for your toilet, but the shower and other drains too, a plunger can save the day!
Utility Knife – A good utility knife is not just good for opening boxes. You can use it to score drywall, strip wires and so much more.
Cat Claw Tool – Used for removing nails, getting leverage, and so much more, this multipurpose tool is a must have.
Paint Kit
Roller – Use a roller to get a bigger surface area done when painting.
Tray – A key instrument to have especially when rolling.
Tape – If you’d like to create designs or just make sure you don’t make a mess, tape is a key tool to have when painting your home.
Brushes – A necessary tool to have when painting! Don’t forget to pick up different size brushes for different projects.
Miscellaneous
Shop Vac – For dry and wet messes, shop vacs are a key appliance to have.
Dehumidifier – To keep the humidity down in the house which lowers the risk of mold.
