A Gentleman’s Farm
When John and Marie began exploring their move out of Rockport, Massachusetts they kept reiterating one big thing to me, they wanted to live in “the country”. The hustle and bustle of Main Street was getting old, they needed peace and a slower pace of life. Borderline Farm found them.
You’d never know this house was built in 1797. The prior owners painstakingly restored her in 1990, bringing it down to the studs while maintaining the character of an Antique Cape. John and Marie have continued that legacy in their time here serving as stewards in this chapter of the Farm’s history. They grow the most beautiful produce for their family in the fenced gardens, and have kept chickens for fresh eggs. John, a wood-craftsman, converted the second story of the 6-stall horse barn into a well-appointed wood shop. He put his skills to use, converting a rustic storage space over the garage into a pine-paneled bunk room, where the grandkids can overflow to their own personal space upon visits.
They installed a beautiful in-ground, heated pool, where they pass the summers entertaining friends and family, while also enjoying the benefits of swimming in their own backyard. As a kid who grew up swimming in the icy waters of the Swift & Saco Rivers, I can appreciate the comfort of a warm pool!
With 13.7 acres of land, they have plenty of room to roam, walking the trails through wildflower fields, observing deer, bear, and turkey. Abutting Audubon Conservation Land has its perks. The time has come for Borderline Farm to find it’s next owner, and we hope you maybe know someone looking for the Country Lifestyle offered here. We can promise them starry night skies, evenings full of cricket-song, and long summer days where the sun slowly recedes over the treetops in the distance… and the occasional moose.
This is the New Hampshire life people dream of.
